Man dies of suspected H1N1 infection

A 30-year-old man from Umri Fata died of suspected swine flu on Friday afternoon at 12.15 pm in the swine flu isolation ward at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). He had been referred to GMCH from Hitech hospital, Kamptee.
“The patient was admitted late on Thursday afternoon in the intensive care unit (ICU). Doctors attending on him sent him to the swine flu ward at 11.25 pm on Thursday night. His condition was not good and he was put on ventilator immediately.
By Friday afternoon despite all efforts, he died of pneumonia and acute respiratory distress. His samples have been sent to National Institute of Virology, Pune, and we will get his H1N1 status on Saturday or Monday,” said GMCH dean Dr Deepti Dongaonkar.
