The fate of contestants from 12 constituencies in the district lies sealed in around 4000 electronic voting machines (EVMs) which were
used during the state assembly elections on Tuesday.
The EVMs will be safeguarded in 12 strongrooms set up in the district for the next eight days. These strongrooms have been set up at counting venues in the different legislative assembly constituencies (LAC).
On Tuesday, the voting in the district commenced with 3,811 EVMS but some more were sent as replacement in around four constituencies. All these EVMs were sent to the strong rooms as voting concluded in the evening.
Collector Pravin Darade said that each strong room will be guarded by paramilitary forces and parties have the option of assigning their representatives to stand by the paramilitary personnel.
