Fearing arrest in the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) degree scam, alleged kingpin Rajendra Gore obtained interim anticipatory bail from the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court on Wednesday. Gore's alleged accomplice Babulal Dhotre was also granted anticipatory bail.
The HC has also issued notice to the Katol police station to file its reply, returnable on July 13. Till then, the police have been told not to arrest Gore and Dhotre.
Twelve victims of the scam submitted complaints against Dhotre, Gore and one Animesh Mondal. Rajendra Gore is the stand-in principal of one of the colleges where these students study. Babulal Dhotre is a lecturer with the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sharirik Shikshan Mahavidyalaya, Katol.
The Katol police had already arrested Mondal and the chairman of the university's board of studies for BPEd Chandrakant Duble.
The latter's name had figured in the conversation between students and Gore which had been recorded by the students. However, Duble was later released on bail.
