Manav Sansadhan', Vipnan', and Vitt' are specialisations in this management degree. Confused? Well, a student pursuing MBA (Masters of
Business Administration) in Hindi will be familiar with these words. Manav Sansadhan', Vipnan' and Vitt' are the Hindi for human resources, marketing and finance respectively. The Wardha-based Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University (MGIHU) is all set to begin its much-awaited management course in Hindi, perhaps a first in India, from current session. However, the course has been introduced on a part time basis with classes to be conducted on Sundays and other holidays.
The university will be conducting an entrance exam for the said course on August 2 at nine cities. These are Nagpur, Raipur, Lucknow, Wardha, Delhi, Allahabad, Bhopal, Pune and Varanasi. The course will cost the students just Rs 12,000 against Rs 50,000 plus per year charged for the traditional MBA course by various city colleges. TOI had reported about Hindi university introducing MBA in country's national language in its March 21, 2008, edition.
According to MGIHU public relations officer BS Mirge, the university had proposed this management course in Hindi for the students facing difficulties in reading and writing in English. "There are 504 students, including 40 from Nagpur, who have enrolled for this entrance exam at nine centres. As this is our first year, the intake capacity of every affiliated college has been kept at just 20. We are expecting more students in the coming years," Mirge told TOI.
The course was to be started last year but could not be as translation books consumed a lot of time, he explained. "All the books on various subjects were in English," he said. Former vice-chancellor of the university G Gopinathan in whose tenure the course was introduced told TOI that the university strove to pioneer new courses that would benefit students as well as help in spreading the use of Hindi.
"We sincerely believe that language shouldn't be a barrier in learning. Since Hindi is our national language, and ours is an international university, we take pride in being first to start such a course. We have completed all formalities including permission from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)," he said
Siddharth College to conduct course
Siddharth College at Wanjari Nagar has been given affiliation by the Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University to conduct the Hindi MBA course in the city. Principal Sandhya Rajurkar, speaking about the course, told TOI that it had received good response from the students. "Many students who aspire to be an MBA, do not pursue this course due to language problems or financial constraints. This course solves both the problems," she said. Rajurkar said the college was offering facilities as per the AICTE and Hindi university norms. "The local enquiry committee and other panels have inspected our facili ties before granting affiliation. We have up-to-date library, computers and classrooms. We are also authorised training centre for insurance training," she said. On placements, Rajurkar said with mega projects like Mihan coming up in the city, there were several opportunities for Hindi MBA passouts.
The syllabus is similar to MBA in English. The course is spread over three years with five semesters of six months each.
The last semester will be for industrial training. Multinational companies will definitely give the preference to Hindi MBA students because of their expertise in local language," she added.
