Waterlogging and poor roads remain few of the most nagging problems for the people. On one hand, the people say since they pay tax, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation should resolve civic problems; on the other hand, the NMC finds itself unable to do so as officials neither have plans nor the money to execute such works.
Residents of a few localities especially Friends Colony, KT Nagar, Kadbi Chowk, Christian Colony, Gautam Nagar etc, say that waterlogging and poor roads are a perennial problem during every rainy season and they complain that the civic officials are doing little to address the problem.
“Why should we pay tax when our houses are flooded during every rains. About 2 ft water enters our house if it rains even for an hour. The problem is aggravating with each passing year,” rues Vinod Nair, a resident of Friends Colony. The rise in level of clogged rainwater is directly proportional to unplanned urbanisation of open areas around the city, which were earlier agricultural fields, pointed out Saurabh Gadegone another resident.
