After DTE Nagpur University too has warned Engineering colleges to appoint regular principals and lecturers

After the state Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Nagpur University, too has warned engineering colleges to appoint regular principals and lecturers or face action.
According to an official, the university had issued a stern warning to all the 40 engineering colleges to appoint regular lecturers or it would not allow their first year students to appear for examination. The decision was taken at a meeting of board of students (BoS) for the engineering faculty held on Monday.
Interestingly, the university in May had stepped up its drive against colleges that had not filled up posts of principals and lecturers on full time basis after high court's directions. However, Supreme Court had granted an interim stay to some colleges after which the university to slackened its drive. HC had directed the state government and the universities to act tough on colleges running without full time principals and teachers and ban their first year admissions for 2009-10 if they failed to fill up the posts before May 31.
DTE had recently issued a letter to all 215 engineering institutes to fill up regular posts of principals or their first year admissions will be stopped. This was reported by TOI on June 23 .
The DTE's warning seemed to have worked wonders as 37 out of 40 engineering colleges in the Nagpur University appointed regular principals. Others are in the process of doing so.
Now the university, though patting the colleges on back for appointing the principals, warned to them to similarly appoint regular professors, readers and lecturers before the classes begin around September 1.
Dean engineering faculty DK Agrawal informed that semester pattern in engineering first year and also the new syllabus would not be implemented from current academic session due to some technical difficulties pointed out by the university's academic department and examination section.
"We were ready, but there were some genuine technical difficulties. Therefore, it both semester system and new syllabus would be implemented only next year," he added. Nagpur University is the only one in state not having semester system in first year engineering.
