Just a day after SSC results were declared, there was heavy rush of students and parents to purchase admission forms for Std XI at all 30
form distribution centres in the city. According to state education department officials, who are conducting the centralised admission process this year, 20,448 forms were sold in just two days and rush is expected to increase in the remaining four days.
On very first day — on Thursday — over 7,739 forms were sold. On Friday, 8,353 forms of science faculty and 4,056 forms of commerce were sold. However, six mistakes were found in the application forms by parents and students, who pointed them out to the education department officials over these two days. Over 30,000 seats of science and commerce faculties are up for grabs this year in about 192 colleges, including the 35 new ones to start from this year in the city.
From this year, students have been offered more options of choosing junior colleges. Now, students will have 40 options to choose instead of earlier 35. Of them, 20 options will be filled up by the students to indicate their own choice while the remaining 20 will be colleges near their residence. Department officials have advised students and parents to fill up the forms, especially for bifocal courses, very carefully and with the help of their experienced school principals and teachers if required.
Students have been advised to keep all documents and their photocopies ready like school leaving certificate, domicile and reserved category certificates among others.
