Goon killed over extortion

Notorious criminal Chandu Parchake, who had been allegedly involved in three cases of murders, including a recent one at Dhantoli, was murdered by his enemies, apparently after a dispute over extortion money.
The assault, likely to have been triggered by earlier enmity, resulted in the dismembering of the wrists of both the hands and a fatal cut on the head. Police said Parchake was a terror among autorickshaw drivers in Sitabuldi where he stayed.
He would often threaten them of dire consequences and extort money. Ambazari police had been keeping a strict watch on his residence at Verma Layout where Parchake’s family resided. Fearing an attack, Parchake would remain away from his residence and stayed with his friends. He had come to his residence on Tuesday evening along with friend Montu Hirenwar.
It is learnt that a group of people intercepted the bike driven by Hirenwar with Parchake riding pillion, before they started chasing the duo. While Hirenwar was lucky to escape, Parchake fell in the hands of his assailants.
Ambazari police rushed a gravely injured Parchake to the Government Medical College and Hospital. The cops claimed that the assailants could be victims of Parchake’s extortion racket. A case of murder has been registered at Ambazari police station.
