No one has tested positive for swine flu among the results to arrive for the suspected patients in the city. However, a patient suspected to be suffering from swine flu died on Monday. His samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for testing.
The patient, a 55-year-old man, was brought to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the city on Monday with several complications. He was suffering from viral pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, after some hours of treatment, he died at 2.45 pm. Meanwhile, another 22-year-old patient has been admitted to the isolation ward at GMC, with suspicion of having been affected by the H1N1virus.
There have been two earlier instances in city when patients were suspected to have succumbed to swine flu but reports in both cases turned out to be negative. On Monday, three reports were received from NIV and all were negative.
