Cops get new pay
Just before the onset of the festival season, city cops have a reason to smile as their long wait for salaries as per recommendations of the
sixth pay commission have been sanctioned.
The benefit of the sixth pay commission started reflecting in the salary of the cops this month. The cops were a jubilant lot after noticing their fat pay increases in their salary accounts. In addition, the cops have also got arrears of the four months salary in their present month's salary.
"This development is good for the motivation of cops. Our families would be happier too. This came just after the departure of Ganesha and beginning of the preparation for Navratri and Diwali.
Definitely our confidence levels have got a big boost as now the khaki department is as good as any other private or multinational companies," said a head constable, visibly upbeat after hearing the news. "This would help us to ensure better education for our children and improve the quality of our lives," he said.
Apart from the sixth pay commission, city cops were also euphoric about the clearance of a sizeable chunk of their refreshment allowance, which had been pending since December 2008, triggering widespread dissent.
