Gautam Gambhir cleared for Champoins Trophy

India's chances in the Champions Trophy recieved big boost on Thurday, when Indian star opener Gautam Gambhir was given a green signal to play in Champions Trophy in South Africa.

According to cricfield sources, Gambhir, who missed out Compaq Cup in Sri Lanka due to groin injury, has recovered completely and will join Indian squad which leaves tomorrow for South Africa to take part in Champions Trophy.The Delhi-based opener was supposed to face a fitness test on Thursday afternoon but the Board officials gave him a green signal to travel to SA on the basis of his past performance.

After returning from Sri Lanka, Gambhir had been under going rehabilitation of his injury at the NCA under the supervision of physio Paul Close.Gambhir had a brilliant run in the last 2 years against Pakistan, Australia and West Indies, which are in Group A in the ICC's upcoming mega event.The Indian team will be leaving from Mumbai for Champions Trophy on Friday.
