Fly Mobiles has announced the launch of its latest CDMA mobile phone, the C-250, in India. The phone, based on the 800Mhz CDMA frequency, is being touted as an entry level device with a decent array of features.
The phone uses Qualcomm's QC1110 chipset which, the company claims, will offer longer talk times and an overall better power management
. In fact, the phone touts a talk time of 8 hours, which sounds good and is more than adequate. The C-250 also happens to be the first phone to be announced that is based on the aforementioned chipset. It is a BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless) capable phone and for the same reason, supports the application development platform created by Qualcomm that can download and run small programs for playing games, sending messages, sharing photos etc.
The device comes in a candy bar form factor and sports a 2-inch QVGA display that can display 65k colors. The 176x200 resolution might be inadequate but should do the job. At the rear, there is the 2 megapixel camera with basic features like digital zoom and a self timer.
The phone can be charged with the help of USB cable and the USB connectivity also allows the users to use it as a flash drive for data storage as and when required. The expandable memory with the help of mini-SD card is 4GB. Bluetooth too makes its way in.
The C-250 also possesses decent multimedia prowess and hence, the phone supports polyphonic and true ring tones in MP3, MIDI, AMR, AAC and AAC+ format. It has a full track MP3 player with play, pause, stop, back, mute etc. functions. Other notable features include FM Radio, calendar, alarms, world clock, voice recorder, speed dial, network information and time zone, currency converter etc.
The C-250 boasts of a standby battery life of 7 days and at a price of Rs. 4,490, it might not be a bad buy at all.
