Yuvi 'sacked' as Kings XI Punjab captain

Nagpur / Mumbai: Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara may replace Yuvraj Singh as captain of Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kings XI Punjab. Sources say the southpaw has been sacked by the management.

Apparently, coach Tom Moody had expressed his displeasure about Yuvraj's attitude to the team owners, saying the India superstar continually ignored the team management's advice. Reports say, the team management is thinking of replacing Yuvraj with Kumar Sangakkara.

Yuvraj led Kings XI Punjab in the first two editions of the IPL. While Kings XI reached the semifinals in the first season, they finished fifth in the second edition.

Sri Lanka skipper Sangakkara, however, played down the development. "I already have my hands full with the Sri Lanka job. I cannot take another one and I feel an Indian should lead an Indian franchise," Sangakkara said during the pre-match media conference in Nagpur on Tuesday.

In fact, Sangakkara praised Yuvraj a lot. "He is a very good captain and I enjoyed playing under his leadership in the IPL," he said. But the left-hander maintained that he had no idea about Yuvraj's sacking. "I haven't heard anything of this sort", he signed off.

Sources close to Yuvraj say he has not been informed of any such decision.
