National president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nitin Gadkari said that the Maharashtra executive of the party would decide whether he
should continue as a member of legislative council (MLC). "I personally want to quit the post but the party will decide. After all, it means another election," he told reporters after his welcome procession in the city.
Gadkari said that he realized the magnitude of responsibility he had been given only after returning to Nagpur. "This post was occupied by Atalji and Advaniji," he said. Asked whether sidelined BJP leaders in Delhi would allow him to function smoothly, Gadkari said that all the leaders had assured him full cooperation and he did not feel anybody would try to hamper him. "Just wait for three years and the results will tell. When I took over as the PWD minister of Maharashtra, I had no experience of construction work but my work is praised even now," he said.
