47 more die from Swine Flu in U.S. – total deaths 477

47 more people have died from Swine Flu in the United States in just one week to bring the total death toll from the novel virus to 477.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control also reports 7,551 hospitalizations since the outbreak of the H1N1 virus.

Canada is reporting a total of 66 deaths but says the level of Swine Flu activity is decreasing.

* To 8 August, 2009, a total of 1,366 hospitalized cases and 240 cases admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) had been reported to the Public Health Agency of Canada.

* Six more deaths were reported for a total of 66 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. More than 90% of the hospitalized cases and approximately 85% of the deaths have been reported by only 4 provinces (Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec).

* The overall Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza activity is decreasing across Canada.
