Science convention from Jan 22

NAGPUR: Marathi Vidnyan Parishad has organised its 44th convention and a science exhibition in the city from January 22 to

24.

Convenors Hemant Pande and Vikrant Katekar said that former President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam would inaugurate the convention at Vasantrao Deshpande Hall on January 22 at 11 am. About 500 delegates from the state have already sent their confirmations and more including from outside the state are joining in.

The conventional would conclude in the presence of chief minister Ashok Chavan and union minister for science and technology Prithviraj Chavan on January 24 at 5 pm.

The science exhibition would be held at Hislop College ground and there would be 150 stalls displaying various innovative technologies and ideas. The stalls would be set up school students, college students and government institutions like ISRO, NEERI, Citrus Research Centre, MOIL, WCL, etc.,

Pande said. It would be inaugurated by Nagpur university vice chancellor Dr S N Pathan at 3 pm. Efforts are on to persuade Dr Kalam to inaugurate the exhibition as well, Pande said adding that there were some security related issues regarding the venue.
