Around 50 officers of sub-inspector rank joined the city police on Friday. These probationary officers, fresh from the Maharashtra Police
Academy, Nashik, have been assigned to various police stations in the city. Earlier in 2007, 49 officers had joined the city police as probationary officers.
The city police, which had been suffering a manpower crunch, especially in the PSI ranks, has replaced equal numbers of officers, who had been given temporary promotions in the past from the rank of assistant police sub-inspectors.
The new crop of PSIS were briefed by senior officers before they were assigned to their new roles in the city police. The fresh batch has already reported to their respective police stations
