WASHINGTON, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday condemned a massive bombing attack at a volleyball game in northwest Pakistan that killed over 90 people, vowing to continue supporting Pakistan in its fight against violent extremism.

Clinton offered condolences to the families of the victims, saying the United States will stand with Pakistan in its effort to chart its own future free from fear and intimidation.

She also said Washington will support Pakistan, a crucial ally in U.S. efforts to combat Taliban and al-Qaida, in its fight against violent extremism.

The blast occurred earlier in the day at a volleyball game in Lakki Marwat district in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province. Three suicide attackers rammed their explosive-laden car into the walls of the volleyball ground, where up to 400 people were present for a local match.

In their separate messages, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani condemned the attack and expressed profound grief. They said the perpetrators of such heinous crime would not be spared.
