The Nagpur Municipal Corporation-run Starbus will soon start operations from the Mor Bhavan bus stand, which it has been demanding since
starting operations on March 15, 2007. The use of the city bus stand will make it convenient for bus commuters and also the general traffic in the busy Sitabuldi area. NMC sources informed that in a meeting held at Mantralaya in Mumbai, principal secretary (transport) CS Sangitrao has directed municipal commissioner Aseem Gupta and managing director of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation OP Gupta, to use the Mor Bhavan land for NMC city bus and MSRTC rural bus services.
"The Mor Bhavan stand itself is not crowded, and is ideal for handling city bus services. The only solution for NMC was to develop the stand as a pick up point. Now, as per directions of the transport secretary, NMC will develop the entire bus stand area and allot 10 to 15 platforms and a few shops to MSRTC, while it will use the other 10-15 platforms for Starbus operations," a senior NMC official said.
