According to Suhas Lohkare, public relations officer (PRO), Central Railway, bookings in the new train opened at 8 am on Friday. By the time the counters closed at 8 pm, 50% berths were booked. Of the 588 berths in the sleeper class, 351 were available. The AC-II tier coach is full and waiting list is one, while in AC-III tier 40 of the 90 berths are available.
Similarly, from Mumbai, four berths were available in AC-II, 68 in AC-III and 418 berths in sleeper coach. However, on the day of journey on November 21, the train is expected to be full. "We expect that those people who don't get a berth in any of the trains to Nagpur, will prefer Duronto," Lohkare said.
The new tri-weekly express would be flagged off on its inaugural run by railway minister Mamata Banerjee at 11.30 am on Saturday from Mumbai. The 2290 Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto will leave city at 8.25 pm and reach CSTM (Mumbai) at 7.55 am. From Nagpur, the train will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. From Mumbai the 2289 Duronto will depart at 8.15 pm and reach Nagpur at 7.45 am. From Mumbai, it will start on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
